Spatter Spangle deals Mica glass Vase

Based on story this owner was an antique dealer who had a ton of art glass. we weren't sure how long the were kept away by the owner. I was able to buy a huge collection from her estate, she had excellent taste in antiques.

This Beautiful vase we had some mixed information she had a label on this piece stating it was from Stevens and Williams early Victorian glass vase Online value about $145.00 -225.00 early English art.

And then I have had someone who gave me some information that it could be a Legras, c.1890. Also known as legras spatter vase' either way it's a beauty.

This was blown in a mold and tooled to create those charming ruffles on the rim. The body is melon ribbed with a quilted effect that reflects the light dramatically. Place it where it catches the light and the quilted body is truly a work of art.

They'd gather up the chips of colored glass left over from the day's work, roll it over a heated metal plate called a marver, and blow the glass into all sorts of shapes.

Sometimes, they'd layer translucent glass over that. It's a technique that goes all the way back to the Romans, referred to as splashed glass.

If you do not know this particular area of splatter glass well,it can be tough dating some of it. I couldn't date this piece exactly, after doing some research the earliest I could find was from late 1800's to early 1900's

Dimension:
The vase measures 8” high and is about 4” at its widest point. The colors are pink, yellow, gold glitter and white with reddish-black spatters and small areas of clear glass.
