deals Rare edition of Paradise of the Pacific magazine published in Hawaii from December 1944, volume 58, number 12.
Price at the time: $1.00 per copy - which made it expensive even then.
This magazine was always known as a high end magazine with high quality content depicting life Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. There are many interesting stories along with black & white photos along with vintage advertising. This magazine contains both societal stories of the indigenous inhabitants of the islands along with stories regarding the soldiers and their lives just as WWII has ended.
However, the most touching piece in this magazine is that someone wrote on the inside first page "Hello Darling". I can just imagine a soldier sending this home to his much-missed sweetheart/wife knowing he will be coming home soon.
There is some wear to the cover and binding but the inside is in remarkably good condition.
Approximate size: 12" x 9"
