Negroland, the map was crafted in 1747 by eighteenth-century Royal cartographer and engraver Eman. Bowen.

The map was commissioned by King George II of England, born 1683 - died 1760. Eman. Bowen was also commissioned for his expertise in map making by King Louis XV of France, born 1710 - died 1774.
