RARE vintage 1940s Machine deals Age bracelet by Vargas unsigned riveted hinges, rosy gold finish, industrial, modernist, incredible

I am all about this bracelet. It's the height of Machine Age heavy metalwork, with three rows of thick bars that end up looking like a car grille or some such part. I love the rivets on top for the hinges. Closure is with a small push clasp that works well. There is also a safety chain.

I don't know what this metal is. It might be rolled gold; I don't think it is brass, as the gold color is wearing away from the surface of the bars--which gives it a more mellow and nuanced effect, I think. Inside the hinges, the color is bright, rich gold. The metal around the inside shows wear, as I've tried to show in photos.

I cannot find a signature to confirm, but all the typical Vargas elements are here deals. This is the design and quality of coveted pieces made by the Vargas company. BUT this is the only one I've seen that's solid metal, no Lucite. It may have been a prototype.

The Vargas Manufacturing Company was founded in Providence, RI, in 1945. Their heavily industrial designs were influenced by advances in technology and machinery during World War II. They also made Victorian Revival pieces.

This is a really magnificent bracelet. Take her home--you won't regret it.
