Vintage Demi Cedar Blue Parker deals 51 Vacumatic

Here is a Parker 51 Demi Vac filler in excellent condition. Its date code is a visible '7' with no dots - last quarter of 1947, which is the first year of the demi-size 51. I call the barrel imprint visible but not sharp. The color of this pen is deals Cedar Blue; the demi 51 only came in four colors – India Black, Cedar Blue, Cordovan Brown, and Dove Grey. (The aging of Lucite, color tones on computers, etc. often make exact color identification difficult.) The demi is the same girth as the standard 51 but at 123mm, shorter. There was an Aerometric model that was thinner and slightly longer. Caps came in only two versions; the Lustraloy, which is on this pen (no dents), and gold filled. Note in the photographs that the clip is slightly out of alignment but it is tight and secure. The pen does have handwear; there are no dings, cracks, gouges, or personalization. The nib is a smooth 14kt medium fine with very adequate tipping. The pen has been flushed, lightly polished, and tested as a writer. The ink flow is good. The cap slips on and off cleanly and holds firmly. The blind cap threads are aligned and smooth. In '47 Parker retired the Blue Diamond and Split Arrow Clip. The slightly reworked Art Deco Arrow Clip from the original 1930's Vacumatic model was adopted and is the clip on this pen's cap. The cap has the pearl luminescent jewel with an unmarred surface. The edge of the cap at the clutch is marked "Parker". A pretty nice 75 year old Parker 51.
