He is about 8” tall and I believe he use to hold a broom in his hand. Some of the gold has flakes off in areas. See pictures. I see no chips or cracks. The bottom is not stamped or marked. Ji Gong was born Li Xiyuan (#13**), the son of a famous military advisor, Li Maochun (#*#). His parents died when he was just 18 years old, so Ji Gong was sent deals to a monastery in Hangzhou to begin living an ascetic life. He became fed up with the monastic code and set out to the streets to help poor people directly while still spreading and practicing the teachings of Buddha. He eventually gained supernatural abilities,including the ability to see into the future, as theresult of his many years of charity and Buddhist study. Stories tell of him wondering the country half dressed and claiming to see future events. I understand that during his life he was considered deranged or drunk. It was not until after death that he became legend. I have no history on this statue but believe it to be rare. 1022.
