Antique 19th century Chinese wooden red enameled and gold gilded rice carrier or lunch box with hand carved dancing figurines. Superb shape. The red hand painted enameled paint is in excellent condition. The handle is tight and functions well. The gold gilding on the design is in amazing shape. The gilded hand rocks front to back to allow easy access to the contents. The bottom rim is banded and the top metal closure functions deals well. The split lid opens to insert food and slides back in place to close easily. This would have been used by the elite class to serve their food or carry food items from place to place. Just lovely and historical in its own right. 12”long X10” wide X13” tall. Weighs 4#. Exceptional condition.
