Product code: Never worn! 1970s deals Vintage Jacques Lipchitz signed menorah brooch
This eye-catching, c.1970s vintage piece, commissioned by the State of Israel, is signed by the artist, Jacques Lipchitz, a famous and prolific 20th century sculptor While it's a vintage piece, 50 years old, I don't believe it was ever worn. Size: approx. 2” x 2” Material: bronze Bar-pin backing. Pin is straight & sharp; swivel moves smoothly; clutch holds securely. The Hebrew lettering, which is read from right to left, is “ayin” and “chai”. Ayin means “eye; look; see; seek”. Chai means “life”. Together, the phrase means “Seek life”, or “Look toward life”. The 7-armed menorah is the type used deals regularly in temple for services, as opposed to the 9-armed menorah used only for Hanukkah. This bronze brooch was designed in the modernist style of Brutalism, in which design was kept simple and without adornment. (Boston City Hall is an example of Brutalist architecture.) NOTE: No refunds/returns, so please review pictures and details carefully. Further photos and information upon request.
