Yale University Bookend SINGLE Patinated Cast Iron 1920s
A handsome SINGLE 1920s cast iron bookend with deep bronze, nearly black surface patination. It features the seal of Yale University and its Latin motto, Lux Et Veritus (meaning: light and truth); that motto also appears in Hebrew on the 'book' in the center of the bookends. Seriously weighty at approximately 4 pounds.
Age-appropriate surface wear. There are scratches on the deep bronze surface that reveal glints of cast iron beneath. No corrosion, very good patina. The photos tell the tale.
This bookend has not been cleaned or polished. It is deals marked on the back: CS & C Co. -- which stands for College Seal & Crest Company, of Boston. There is an intentionally textured design on the back.
