Vintage JC Penney SLR3 35mm SLR Camera with a Chinon 55mm f1.7 Prime Lens (M42 Connector) is a fully manual basic camera. Nothing automatic in the lenses but the sensor does work for aperture readings. A great camera to learn the basics and get full control of your pictures and good for street shooting.
This is a hard to find model and uses the M42 mount lenses which are easy to find and give you a lot of options to build out a full kit.

CONDITION:
As you can see from the pictures, the camera has no real wear but it is used. Also, I found no scratches or dust with the lens. TO verify condition, I ran film through the camera with two shots on flash and rewound film back. All functions appear to work just fine. The shutter speeds appear to be close at high speeds (by estimate) but 1 second speed is a touch off. Could use deals a clean and lube inside but still functional. Light meter works but not tested against a modern handheld light meter.
The film advance lever works just fine and I found no light leakage with the dried out foam on the back door. Due to age and used nature, there is no warranty on this camera or lens.

The JC Penney SLR3 is a rebadged Petri FTX, which is derived from the Petri FT II, but using the more universal 42mm threaded lens mount. The styling is a bit idiosyncratic, with an angled front shutter release (resembling some Praktica models), a front-facing compartment for one mercury battery, and a separate film-speed setting dial on the top deck. The cloth focal-plane shutter offers speeds from 1 to 1/1000 sec. with flash sync at 1/60th. As implied by the "TTL" branding, light metering is accomplished with two CdS cells inside the pentaprism housing, reading light levels through the lens. The "lollipop" meter index mark in the viewfinder moves according to the shutter speed setting. however the lens must be stopped down to shooting aperture using a button alongside the lens mount in order to activate the meter.
