This is a nice antique solid silver brooch that is showing some signs of its age but still deals looks great.
It depicts a 'lucky horse shoe', picked out in rose gold gilding, and trailing ivy.
Ivy was rich with meaning for the Victorians, who loved their symbology and the language of plants and flowers - ivy was for friendship, fidelity and loyalty, longevity and eternity.
So this lovely brooch was maybe gifted, in its day, as a token of close friendship and is still around today to be gifted again, what a wonderful piece of wearable history!
One end of the brooch - the clasp end, does seem to be a little bit bent out of the straight line, but this isn't too noticeable looking from the front of the brooch.
The classic Victorian simple C clasp to back appears to have been maybe bent back a bit, this is probably easily straightened by a jeweller or someone good with silver, carefully, with fine pliers, but won't be noticeable as is on wearing and still holds the pin ok.
Brooch has full English hallmarks for Birmingham assay and the year 1891/92.

4.3 x 1.8cm or approx. 1.7 x 0.7 inches.
Weight - 2.5 grams.
