Deals Rare 1930s Porecelain W.S. George Plate, Kitty Cat in Front of Fire, Tea Pot & Cups, Cross Stitch Pattern Look, Folk Art Design,Very Vintage
I have done a lot of research on this deals unusual decorative plate. I found a web site called, laurelhollowpark.net that has a lot of the history of many of W.S. George pottery and plates. They state that this design called rainbow was made in the mid to late 1930's. If you study the pics 4,5 and 6 you can clearly see all the crazing from age.
This rare plate is in very good vintage condition, with only small bits of paint missing from the bottom edge and all the lovely vintage crazing.
As you can see in the pics the design of this plate was done in a cross stitch pattern style which gives it a very folk art look. The design colors are mostly done in black but the fire under the tea pot is done in a dark burnt orange color. The Rainbow design also has "crimped edge panels", which are detailed with the black and orange colors.
