This sweet sentimental Victorian mourning bar brooch features three Forget-Me-Not flower heads separated with faceted diamond-shaped beads; small round beads at each end; matte finish. These design elements are made from French Jet or black glass; each drilled to a slightly curvature bar. When I purchased this piece, I was told the bar was made from Vulcanite, but I have tested it and it appears to be Whitby Jet. Measuring 2" long x 3/8" at its widest; C-catch closure. It is in good condition; minor wear deals commensurate with age; stem pin slightly bent but closes tight and securely. The various symbolism of the Forget-Me-Not flower originates from legends, folklore and history. Historically for the Victorians, they symbolized true love and remembrance for those who are no longer with us.
