The Dogon are an African population of Mali. This population, of about 240,000 individuals, occupies the region of the Bandiagara cliff south of the Niger River and some groups are settled in the territories adjacent to Burkina Faso. They are predominantly millet, coffee and tobacco growers and have a particular skill as blacksmiths and sculptors.
