It's Flat and Skinny Handmade Ceramic Art for shallow windowsills, skinny shelves and thin and narrow spaces.Skinny Strawberries Vase is all handmade fa m stoneware clay and hand painted in several layers of color-stained clays. The design was hand painted in reverse and then buffed, sponged and sanded down in areas to expose the color fa m the surface to below. This is my second vase created in this technique and keeping track of color and design in reverse is nothing short of aerobics for the brain. Typically, one might think the strawberries were painted over the background. However, they were actually the first thing painted on a blank background and then colors were layered on top of them.The vase's design and colors include bright coral stripes over bands of purple gray on the neck, dark coral pink strawberries with black seeds and green leaf tops, bright coral flowers with peach petals and a deep hunter green, fern green, dark sage and pastel green washed pattern background. The vase edges are buffed and darkened and some of the painted areas are crackled and chipped for aging and definition. The lip and interior is drizzled in pastel mint and coated in a clear gloss.The Skinny Strawberries Vase is roughly 4" wide, 1-3/8" deep and stands 7-1/2" tall.
