Sadao Kishi (1932-1998) was deals in the vanguard of the Sosaku Kokeshi Movement, receiving numerous awards during his career. In 1968, he won the Prime Minister's Award for the design of this doll. The name of this Kokeshi is Mushin, which means emptiness of mind; it is also called Seishin No Komugi, meaning Spirit of the Wheat. Standing 9 1/4" high. The wheat pattern is carved and colored. The doll is in very good original condition consistent with age and standards of collectable Folk Art, with all details perfect and as crafted.
