Large Glass Compote Bowtie Thompson Glass Works Antique Lovely antique compote by Thompson Glass Works from the 1890's. The compote has thick glass with petal shaped scallops. The petals form a bowtie with a center medallion. The pattern number is 18 "Bowtie." The glass is about 1/4 inch thick and weighs approximately 6 3/4 pounds. Measures about 10 1/4 inches tall and 10 inches wide at the top, the base is 6 inches across The Thompson Glass Works produced some beautiful and popular glassware in Uniontown Pennsylvania for a relatively short number of years, (1889-1895). It was constructed during the natural gas fever in 1889 at a cost of $100,000. During those seven years, the company had gone through several failures and reorganizations.
