This is an original, hard cover, old copy of "Regional Anesthesia, Its Technic and Clinical Application." Written by Gaston Labat MD, this hard cover book was published deals in this Second Editoon form in 1928 by the W.B. Saunders Company of Philadelphia & London.
The book's forward, written by William J. Mayo, reads: "REGIONAL anesthesia has come to stay. In its development and progress, for various reasons, have been slow, principally because the anesthetist must have an accurate knowledge of anatomy and a high degree of technical skillin order that the anesthesia may be safe and satisfactory, and the operation not delayed. Heretofore, few surgeons have given the time necessary to master the method of administration, and the details have been carried out by assistants, equally unqualified..."
The book features 543 pages, 4 additional pages of 'Code for Regional Anesthesia of the Body', a detailed and useful 18 page index, and 367 original illustrations.
The hard cover book is in good condition, showing some wear/fading/scuffing/staining/wear. All pages are intact, the binding is secure, and the covers are firm with some discoloration (see pics). The name of the previous owner (a doctor) appears in cursive inside the front and back covers.
Besides its obvious informational and historical value, the dark-green cover & gold lettering on the spine make this old book very eye-catching and a great display/conversatio piece. Would make an excellent gift.
