I painted this silk scarf with inspiration by Dayak tattoo design. The Dayak are the native people of Borneo deals. Traditionally, Dayak tattooing was performed in a sacred ritual among gathered tribe members. Tattoos are created by artists who consult spirit guides to reveal a design.

This scarf is Authentically hand painted using the ancient traditional technique of Batik. Batik is a long multi-step process that incorporates drawing the artwork onto the fabric then using hot wax to trace all the drawn lines with a special wax pen tool. The wax acts as a resist to prevent the color dyes from mixing. The fabric is then stretched and carefully painted using dyes and special brushes. After a day of drying the fabric is submerged into boiling water to remove the wax leaving a white outline where the wax was applied.

**Care Instructions**
Hand wash in cold water with a mild soap.
Roll scarf flat in a large fluffy bath towel.
Iron on a low heat setting while scarf is damp.
