Printed oil painting on canvas by artist John deals Trumbull titled "The Signing". The antique looking gold color wood frame is very ornate and beautiful. The Signing By John Trumbull 1756-1843 engraved under the print. The painting depicts the moment in 1776, when the first draft of the Declaration of Independence was presented to the Second Continental Congress, in the Pennsylvania State House, now Independence Hall, in Philadelphia. Thomas Jefferson, the principal author of the Declaration, is shown placing the document before John Hancock, president of the Congress. This is the first completed painting of four Revolutionary-era scenes that the U.S. Congress commissioned from John Trumbull (1756–1843), noted for his four large history paintings in the Capitol Rotunda. Approximate size with frame: Length 21" x Width 15 1/2" The art print is in excellent condition, but the back of the frame is chipped, as shown in the last two pictures. Offers are welcomed.
