This handmade original artwork is inspired by the Andromeda galaxy, the closest large galaxy to the Milky Way.

Hand-painted with artist-grade gouache colors on 19.6x14.8 cm (A5 size) high-quality mix-media paper (acid-free, 300gsm).

Astronomy and space is something I always find fascinating. It is at the same time humbling and inspiring to know how large the Universe is and how small yet blessed our existence is! The Andromeda galaxy is a grand spiral galaxy like our Milky Way galaxy. It is also our closest neighbor. The center of the galaxy hosts a gigantic super massive black hole, which makes all the stars around it move really fast. Also, the stars at the center are older, for which the central part of the galaxy is very bright and orange in color. At the edge of the galaxy, on the spiral arms, there are new stars forming, which makes it blue and shiny. There are also two nearby smaller galaxies that are also present in this painting, one at the top and one at the bottom. And the thousands of stars at the background have hues deals from orange to blue as they appear like that due to their temperature and elements they have. In astronomy, we learn all of that and much more from studying the light. However, we can also simply appreciate and enjoy the celestial beauty of the galaxies and space.

In this work, I wanted to capture the beauty of the galaxy while keeping the science in mind. Being an astronomer and an artist, this piece is very close to my heart. I hope this piece carries the wonder and inspiration to you that I painted it with.
