Home Decoration 3D Pop up Card ORIGINAL Origamic Architecture DESIGN of Mediterranean Landscape in White and Mustard Yellow OoAK SIGNED

I saw the photographs that my son took when visiting the Greek Islands and realized that this type of architecture is actually seen all over the Mediterranean area.

I decided to incorporate the lines and the characteristics of the houses into my creations.
I created this ONE OF A KIND original art piece using the technique of Origamic Architecture and the inspiration of Masahiro Chatani's works. I was very intrigued by that technique eight years ago when I first learned about it.

Origamic architecture (OA) involves the three-dimensional reproduction of architecture, geometric patterns, everyday objects, or other images, on various scales, using cut-out and folded paper, usually thin paperboard.

Visually, these creations are comparable to intricate 'pop-ups'; indeed, some works are deliberately engineered to possess 'pop-up'-like properties. However, Origamic Architecture tends to be cut out of a single sheet of paper, whereas most pop-ups involve two or more. To create the three-dimensional image out of the two-dimensional surface requires skill akin to that of an architect deals. (Please, read more about OA in my profile)

I decided to cut an oval window in the back to allow the light to shine through and I used transparency film to enhance its' beauty.

My creation opens to 90 degrees and can be used as a card or may be displayed in a Shadow Box or just on a shelf. They become a great ‘Conversation Piece' and who ever will receive them, as a gift will be very impressed and happy.

When folded it measures 8.5" L x 5.5" H as well as when open. (folds flat)
