This 30cm square shallow dish is part of my Fiesta in the Village range, which was inspired by a deals recent trip to Barcelona and the Sagrada Familia.
It was designed and made by me in my garden studio, at my home just outside the beautiful medieval city of Norwich.
It was made by cutting and layering the glass and then fusing it in my kiln. It had 3 firings and was annealed on each firing to strengthen the glass. The gold "fireworks", outlining and doors and windows of the houses were handpainted on post firing. Some of the doors and windows are made from dichroic glass, adding a touch of sparkle to an already stunning piece.
The houses were fired to a relatively low temperature and stand a little proud of the red glass, to give texture and interest. It is food safe, but because of the textured surface I would only use it for dry food. It is not dishwasher safe and should only be hand washed.
This colourful and cheerful dish would make an ideal fruit bowl or house warming present and will brighten up any room.
Please note this is a handmade item and whilst your dish will resemble closely the one pictured it will not be identical. Each dish is unique.
