Vintage from the 1940s This is a Blanc-de-Chine Kwan-yin statue attributed to the Qing Dynasty late 19th - early 20th century. The statue is made from refined delicate porcelain in creamy white color with transparent glaze. The creamy white color & transparent glaze is the indication that the statue was made at kilns of Dehua (Dehua is the rural county in South East of China, which is famous for its fine white porcelain stone). In China, Kwan-yin means "watching the sounds", and was the Goddess of compassion & mercy according to Buddhist tradition. The Goddess was believed to float across the sea on a Lotus flower rescuing men in the storm. Approx 6" tall. In great condition for deals its age. No cracks or crazing. The very tippy tips of two fingers (one on each hand) are gone. You almost cannot tell. See images. Sold as is. Realistic offers welcome.
