Woodworker Edward, has designed and handcrafted another exceptional wood Yarn Box. This box features a Tetris-Style Interlocking Block, marquetry design on the lid. The lid is a true work of art on it's own. This box is a handsome container to hold and feed your yarn, keeping it contained while you work. A Yarn Box is a great alternative to a yarn bowl; it is large, steady and covered. The piece is finely handmade, crafted to last and cherish as a family heirloom.

THE MEASUREMENTS:
- The box measures 7 3/4 ins x 7 3/4 ins.
- Standing 8 1/2 inches tall with the lid.
- Weighing a substantial, 3 lbs 7 ozs the box is very stable, solid and sturdy.

THE BUILD:
Edward's Tetris-Inspired Yarn Box has some very special touches, the body of the box is crafted from lovely Cherry Wood. The mitered corner joints are reinforced with dark Rosewood splines, the splines are decorative and functional for strength. A swirl cut-out yarn guide is featured on the front panel. The back panel has six holes/yarn deals guides for multiple stands.

Fine marquetry work is Edward's specialty, the Interlocking Block pattern on the lid is crafted from an assortment of solid, select fine hardwoods of: Yellowheart, Jatoba, Padauk. The fitted lid is framed in Black Walnut. Edward's marquetry work "goes completely though", not just inlaid on the top of the wood (see photos).

Finished with a light coat of polyurethane and hand rubbed with a finishing wax creates a durable finish, highlighting the natural wood colors. No stains or paint used. All joinery is glue; no screws or nails are used in the construction.

PHOTO NOTES:
I added a full ball of chunky Yarnspirations Bernat Blanket yarn in the photos for size reference. Bernat Blanket is a super bulky (6) weight, 10.5oz/300g, 220yds/201m. I am not able to pull this yarn thru the guides with a full ball; I would need to cast on or start a chain and work a few rows to get this big ball rolling. The yarn is not included in the purchase.
