Horizontal Dowel Toy
This classic Montessori toy is intended for use by children 12-18 months. Once they have learned to put the discs on a vertical dowel, the difficulty increases. This horizontal dowel helps develop a slightly different grasp than a traditional stacking toy. It enhances the child's fine motor skills because it requires a change in hand movement, a different approach and problem solving skills.

This toy comes with 6 discs total which are two different coloured woods, white maple and red oak. The maple discs have a smaller inner hole than the oak discs, making them more of a challenge to stack once the child has been successful with the oak discs.

By isolating the skill of stacking the discs onto the dowel, this toy promotes:
-Development of manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination
-development of grasp
-learning to stack and thread
-assist in the development of pre-writing skills

The base of the toy is solid maple, the dowel is birch and the discs are maple and oak. The wood is finished with beeswax and non-toxic sealer.
The discs are large enough not to be a choking hazard as they are 2 inches in diameter.


Size Perception Peg Toy
This peg toy is excellent for toddlers 12-24 months old. It teaches size perception, hand-eye coordination, promotes concentration and encourages independence. Inspired by the Montessori philosophy, our goal is to make quality toys that allow children to learn and grow with simple, natural materials.

This toy is now made from solid maple wood and comes sealed with all natural deals nontoxic biobased sealer.

All corners, edges are sanded as well as the holes to prevent splinters on little exploring fingers!
