Mid-19thC Girls Neckerchief
So, this was one of a number of Fichus I purchased out of a Chester County, PA estate. They are listed in 2 other listings in my shop. This one is the one I kept because I liked the color and how plain it was.
It measures 27 inches wide by 18 inches at its longest, 12 inches from mid-nape to back point.
It is fashioned of a plain weave cotton that looks to be hand-dyed in a rich tobacco color. It is trimmed in a black with red and yellow edges cotton tape. The entire piece is treadle sewn.
Condition is very good with no holes or rips, and very minor wear. The fabric is strong yet supple.
I so loved the color of this one, as I love my earth tones, that I chose to hold on to it.
It was purchased separately from the study collection so it will be sold that way as well.
