This authentic Native American Chert Arrowhead is set with a "Fringe" component of Small Oval Turquoise beads and Argentium Silver round wire. The pendant is strung on an adjustable 1.5mm black waxed cotton necklace cord.
The pendant is 2+ 3/8" long by 1" wide. The Chert Arrowhead is considered medium grade. There are no chips nor cracks. The tip is intact. This is not a reproduction arrowhead and is dated prior to the 1700's. It's the real deal. According to Google: "Chert is a hard, dark, opaque rock composed of chalcedony with an amorphous or microscopically fine-grained texture. It occurs as nodules (flint) or, less often, in massive beds." Chert is made into tools and weapons due to the way it can be shaped when struck. The edges can be very sharp.
The fringe component is 5 curved Argentium Silver wires hammered flat with 5 small 4-5mm blue oval Turquoise beads oriented at the top of each five curves. The fringe component is meant to move and dance as the necklace is worn. This reminds me of the Native American dancers, at a pow-wow, with their colorful Native American dress.
I created this arrowhead design in honor of my Native American heritage. I am part Ojibwa/Chippewa from the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. The Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation is located in deals Belcourt, North Dakota.
I hope you enjoy this striking Native American design as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Thanks,
Tracy
