Antique Pears Runner Primitive Rug Hooking Kit with #8 cut deals wool strips

This 11 X 17 inch rug hooking kit is drawn on cotton monks cloth and is my own original design. My name is Sharon Perry and I have been hooking rugs for over 25 years. I can't tell you how many people have taught themselves traditional rug hooking (not latch hook) with these kits. Here's what you will receive if you purchase this item:

Pattern drawn on cotton monks cloth sealed at the edges to prevent fraying
100% wool fabric strips that are 1/4" wide (#8)

The only other items you will need to get started are a frame and a rug hook. I started out with a quilting hoop which can be purchased at any craft or fabric shop. As for the hook I am offering a steel & hardwood hook which normally sells for $12.00 but if choose the option to purchase it with this kit the price is discounted to just $7.25.

The finished rug would make a great wall hanging, table runner, or primitive pillow top when completed. Lots of people hang these hand hooked mats from old cupboards or lay them on the back of a couch to add a pop of color to a room. The pears are hooked with a very primitive gold and the background of the fruit is done with an over dyed dark pumpkin. The border is hooked with antique black and red for the diamonds and a mix of hand and mill dyed colors for the hit and miss squares . For a finishing touch I added two rows of antique black around the outer edge.
