Product code: RARE Antique/ Vintage Festoon Filigree Intricate Ornamental Statement deals Necklace
This stunning necklace is a remarkable work of art. Purchased through an estate, it's beautifully intricate and I've never found another like it. There may be some gold present in this necklace due to an acid test producing positive results at 10kt in certain areas. I received positive results for 10kt gold on the tiny chain accents and also on the deals finding rings. Those parts have retained their color better than the rest of the necklace so that also points to gold content. The clasp itself was inconclusive for gold. The silvertone parts appear to have a tarnish or former finish that leads me to believe there may have been gold fill or plate over the silver at some point. It is non-magnetic and my best guess it that the silver is pot metal. It tested negative for sterling. The clasp resembles an early spring clasp as it does not have a thumb knob-- very unique! I don't know the exact timeframe of origin, but it was sold to me as an antique piece.
