Tibetan singing bowl type Khopre 400 - deals 450 g with cushion & grater from Nepal | Sound set 3-piece | Christmas gift | Handicraft
Kopre singing bowls are thinner-walled and bulbous in shape compared to the other types of singing bowls on the deals ground, they are slightly inward-dented so that they can stand. Due to the thin-walledness, they have a deeper sound than comparable shells. They are handmade with a diameter of 13 cm – 18 cm and a weight of 400 g – 450 g.
When shopping, we attach great importance to a particularly beautiful sound. Sometimes the visual appearance of the shell is suboptimal (see some photos) but it compensates with excellent sound characteristics.
Originally, the Himalayan singing bowls were used as everyday tableware. The beautiful sound may come from the knowledge of the harmonization of the individual metals (which, as in alchemy, represent different aspects and elements). A harmony of the different elements was achieved when the alloy produced a beautiful sound when hit. This also corresponded to the ideal image of the Buddhist teaching of balance and harmony.
We don't know of anything comparable that allows us to feel sound in this form, like by putting on or holding a battered Himalayan singing bowl.
