This listing is for a vintage (most probable late 1800s) Berry Bowl Set. This clear crystal glass bowl set is in great vintage condition. There is a chip from edge of one of the individual bowl, see picture with damage circled.
The “Sharp Diamond Point” or “English Hobnail” pattern was popular in the Victorian Era. There were so many manufacturers and variations of this pattern that it's extremely hard to pin an exact maker. Westmoreland did make a version deals in the Midcentury (1950s) as well. The Westmoreland version were sawtooth edges and not smooth as this bowl set is.
This clear English Hobnail Glass Set has no makers marks.
This bowl set shows indications of being Flint Glass (1820-1865).
- When “pinged”, the bowls definitely resonate. Indicating either Flint or Crystal Glass. The only difference in name is age.
- Under blacklight, the glass has a blue/clear hue, see picture.
- The entire set weighs just under 4lbs!
- Pattern is crisp, sharp and Victorian.
- Smaller Size
The Master Bowl has a diameter of 8 3/4” and each individual bowl has a diameter of 4 3/4”.
