Set of 4 Vintage Franciscan Masterpiece China Renaissance Platinum Dinner Plates - USA deals

I'm pleased to offer these most elegant fine china plates. These 4 dinner plates were made by Franciscan from 1962 to 1977 (Interpace Made in USA mark) in their Renaissance Platinum pattern. The Masterpiece China series was started in 1958 as a continuation of the Franciscan Fine China line introduced in 1942. These higher end Franciscan pieces were very popular with the well-to-do, and some of the nicer Franciscan patterns were acquired by various U.S. military and government entities.

Please Note: This set is very heavy - weighing over 4 pounds without packing material.

Here's a little history of Franciscan China:
Franciscan is a trademark that appears on pottery. Gladding, McBean and Company started in 1875. The company grew and acquired other potteries. It made sewer pipes, floor tiles, dinnerware, and art pottery with a variety of trademarks. The company made china and cream-colored, decorated earthenware. Desert Rose, Apple, El Patio, and Coronado were best-sellers. In 1936, the name used in advertisements and marks was changed from Franciscan Pottery to Franciscan Ware. The company became Interpace Corporation (International Pipe and Ceramics Corporation) in 1958 and in 1979 was purchased by Josiah Wedgwood & Sons. The plant was closed in 1984 but a few of the patterns are still being made.

Measurements: 10 1/2" in diameter.

Condition: Like new condition, with no crazing, chips, stains, cracks, or scratches. The platinum trim is like new, and the wells are free of knife marks and scrapes. Gift Quality.

NOTE: It is highly advisable to carefully hand wash these fine china pieces. Automatic dishwashers are not recommended.
