Vintage grain sack European grainsack textile linen fabric deals material antique farmhouse country distressed
~ Hello and welcome to The Textile Trunk! ~ Please visit us on Instagram: @textiletrunk ~
We are so very lucky to have come across this wonderful, antique grain sack! This grain sack is a very rare find indeed! This sack is a regional textile in Europe (please search our store for the word 'European' to see more of our European grain sacks) and deals was hand woven on a narrow loom! ~ This textile uses fibers that would have been produced on the family farm, and they were woven by hand to be used for grain and olive harvest. This textile was distinctive, so each family hand their own particular stripe, color or even a stamp, so that the miller could return the sack once processed to the rightful family! ~*~ This sack has been machine washed and is ready to use ( please see condition details below ). This sack would make a stunning pillow simply by adding an insert and using the original tie to close! Fabulous too for upholstery projects, windows, pillow making, table runners ( simply unstitch the hand stitched edges to get one long piece) This sack is a one of a kind, rare and beautiful textile that would add the perfect touch to any rustic interior or modern farmhouse! This sack would also be a great addition for any textile collection!
STRIPE COLOR(S): Deep wine red and milk chocolate brown
MEASUREMENTS: 20 inches wide by 35 inches long (it's double sided, so if using for cutting there are 2 panels that measure this!)
CIRCA AGE: late 18th or early 19th century
MATERIAL: Linen
TEXTURE: This piece has a lovely texture! It is floppy and nubby, gorgeous. Great surface texture for adding texture to a room! (see photos)
CONDITION: I've freshly laundered this sack and it's ready to use! ~ This sack has many flaws from both time and use! This textile is aged and distressed. There are stains as well as a few small holes and threadbare places! This sack has thread loss in the weft - the wool loss has revealed the linen warp. See photos closely! This sack was machine washed once; often the stains will become paler with time and use. This sack is not in pristine condition, and is a very primitive and rustic textile. This sack is not suitable for anyone needing a textile in perfect condition, but it's perfect for anyone looking to add charm and character to any rustic or period interior!
