"Hibiscus at Balboa" Giclée Fine Art Print:
This archival fine art print is reproduced in-house from a watercolor painting by me, Terri Akins, using my Epson Fine Art Printer and Epson UltraChrome HD inks that create museum-quality details and colors. Printed on textured matte archival Epson Signature paper surrounded by a white border for an elegant appearance.

While on a trip to Southern California, my husband and I visited Balboa Park in San Diego. Being artists, we take a lot of reference photos and being in a scenic location like Balboa Park, well let's just say we took a few photos. This hibiscus bloom beckoned to be photographed and then painted. At first, I ignored the urge to try to paint it, since tackling a white blossom was one of my biggest challenges and fears. I tend to add a lot of detail and color where another artist might not, since I love to create emphasis. So, this white blossom evolved into a ‘purple' hibiscus floral painting.

SIZE:

11" x 17" and includes a white border.

I grew up in Yakima, Washington and met my husband, Mike while attending Central Washington University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design. After graduation, Mike and I moved to the Seattle area, got married and began our own small business, a Graphic Design firm, offering art services.

In 1993, my husband and I, along with our son, Gabriel moved to Grandview, Washington and custom built our home in 2004 with many artistic features. With encouragement from those around me, I began painting as a career. With a love for florals, and an emphasis in exotic flowers, I seek to capture each bloom's unique qualities, close-up, with realistic detail. I learn and develop my artistic skill with each new painting. In 2010, I was a member of the International Guild of Realism.

I began designing motivational running medals in 2010 after seeing a need for unique, high quality finishing medals. I started an online business selling virtual run medals and shirts, virtualrunworld.com. My graphic artwork is featured on various items in my shop. In 2016, my husband suffered a massive stroke. He works hard on daily therapy to learn how to walk and talk again. I provide daily caregiving for him as we learn a new normal for our lives. Due to my time limitations now, I had to close our website and start this Etsy shop to allow an easier format for my business. My husband is a great inspiration for my art. I cherish that he is strong, encouraging and loves art too!

I enjoy watercolor painting from my flower reference photography, sculpture, graphic design, running, travel and all things Disney. On Etsy, I offer all of our artistic services and products in one location. I love motivating others with my art and hope to encourage you too!
Thank you for your support! Terri
