Antique cobalt blue decanter….mid to late 19th century. It is approximately 10.5” tall and 6” wide at the base. The beautiful cobalt blue glass has all the characteristics of being hand blown. It is somewhat heavy, has air bubbles here and there and light swirls can be seen in the inside top and the base bottom. It is Middle Eastern. I do not know if it had a cork or glass stopper. The design on the glass is hand painted. There are two portraits of Naser al-Din King/Shah of Persia ( Iran ) 1848-1896 during the Qajar Dynasty. There is a small chip at the top near the lip and a slightly larger chip on the base. They do not detract from the beauty of this piece. One of the portraits has a rather large scratch the other portrait is very good…..see the pics. The gilding has faded in some areas deals, but this is consistent with age. All in all, considering the age of this piece it is in wonderful condition. Thank you for your time.
