A Rare fancy molding plane for edging furniture cabinet tops, making trim or crown moldings, it's body is 9-1/2" long x 3-1/2" tall x 2-5/8" wide, cutting iron is 7-1/2" long, with guidelines on front end cuts an angled 1-5/8" x 3/4" detailed modeled edge. Stamped on front end Casey & Co. Auburn N.Y. on back end stamped 7/8 3/4 INCH. The plane is in excellent condition & looks to have very little use, came from a collection & may have been restored.
Casey & Co. Auburn N.Y. circa 1830-1850s products were produced using Auburn state prison labor, as noted in the 1857 Auburn, NY City Directory, as Casey & Co., Tool Contractors. In 1858 the company changed its name to Casey, Clark Co , and in 1864 the company became Auburn Tool Co , and in 1893 the company became Ohio Tool Co
