Antique round wooden box, domed lid, handmade painted notched, metal latch and hinges, top ring, major crack side bottom, deals Chinese lunch pail
Fascinating to imagine what this round wood box was made for. Beautiful painted folk art. The domed lid has a metal ring on top, and it is hand made, painted and notched by hand. Metal hinges also look to be hand forged. The wood bucket is all one piece of wood. The style seems Asian or Eastern culture, and I like to think it is an antique Chinese lunch pail.
Condition: has issues. The main one being the large crack on the side near one hinge which runs through part of the bottom. As deals a result, the lid does not slide completely into place on top.
Dome on the lid is painted green.
The red paint and the orange accents have held up well, but the black paint accent is worn.
Interior has residue of black fabric stuck to bottom. The inside wood is beautifully turned and shaped.
