Danish deals Princess Butter Knives by Holmes & Edwards, Set of 6, Monogrammed R, Silver Plate, Sterling Silver Inlaid, 1938, Art Deco Style

Gorgeous vintage set of six flat butter knives in the Danish Princess pattern by Holmes and Edwards. They are monogrammed with a fancy script R near the top of the handle. An elegant pattern and remained popular throughout the 1940s - 1950s and beyond.

Created in 1938, this pattern features a horizontal row of dots and an art deco leafy top. The pattern is now discontinued, but advertising back in the day touted "protected where wear happens" because it's not like all other silver plate. it has sterling inlaid with two blocks of sterling silver at the two places where a utensil rests on the table, so if wear should occur, there's sterling underneath.

They measure 6 1/8" inches in length and are in very good vintage condition with no dents or bends. They have some surface scratches, normal with their age. Please refer to photos for details.
