Vintage "Syroco Wood" shelves...... Just gorgeous!

Measures approx. 11.5" Long x 10 3/4" Wide x 5 1/2" Deep. Secure metal hooks for hanging. I was going to paint them, but thought they were so beautiful on their own, I decided to list them as is, and also just incase anyone deals might want to paint them a specific color. They have a groove for plates, and some minor scuff or scratches on the shelf. I just gave them a light wipe down. Syroco was also sold through Home Interiors & Gifts.

"Syroco Wood" is the term applied to a molded material resembling carved wood that was invented and first implemented by a company called the "Syracuse Ornamental Company." The material is a combination of a wood compound and casting fluids that were then poured into molds. The finished casting appears to be hand carved. The Syracuse Ornamental Company became Syroco, Inc., in the 1930s. By the 1940's, other companies such as Multi Products were producing Syrocco products. The Syracuse Ornamental Company produced many products for the home including ashtrays, decorative architectural moldings and very sought after cork screws.
