This is a lovely deals Golf Filled brooch made from the front of a watch case. A Gold pin back with a modern safety was soldered onto the original watch case lid in the 1960's. It is in wonderful condition except for three or four scratches, most likely from when the watch was in use. Still very beautiful, romantic, and wearable (the scratches are extremely visible in the close-up pic, but much less so to the naked eye). Best acid-testing mark. I was told this was gold-filled but I do not know the content; I'm guessing there is a standard for watch cases of this era. I also know that on gold filled antique watches, the pin stem, the loop for the fob chain, and often the edging of the case were all karat gold. But I feel safest selling this as what it is, a lovely piece of jewelry, and not weight for scrap.
