Product code: Amphora Turn Vase, Ernst deals Wahliss, Applied Cherries & Leaves, Austria, Antique

Stunning antique Austrian Amphora Turn Vase with raised applied red cherries and green leaves, circa the Art Nouveau Era, the early 1900s, Teplitz, Austria. The handles of the vase are organically designed creating the look of scrolling vines with a small flower in the center of each one. Circling the top of the vase is an etched design echoing the earthy beauty of the handles. The lip of the vase is painted with gold as if to crown the vase with a bit of royalty.

The three-dimensional beauty of the 3 cherries and their leaves decorate the vase with remarkable detail and color. The overall color of the vase is a soft deeply rich green that variants to lighter green on the bottom back. The cherries are a true "cherry" red. There are 3 cherries with stems deals and 2 large leaves and 2 small leaves.

It is marked with the Ernst Wahliss EW logo and, although difficult to read, we believe it is incised number 6440.

This vase is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. The only flaws of any note are a few tiny dots of missing paint on the cherries and normal crazing for its age. The small dots of missing paint could easily be retouched if you so desire although we enjoy a bit of character, charm, and authenticity of age that these small nuances bring to a piece.

Measures approximately 5 1/2 inches tall x 4 inches in diameter on the base.

NOTE: Velvet cherries are not included; for display purposes ONLY.
