Vintage Borghese female figurine. Resembling a young Lady in Waiting of Italian decent, colorfully crafted in greens and browns; she stands in thoughtful repose holding her bonnet in her hand.

The white and red bordered paper tag is still intact on the bottom: BORGHESE

This beautifully crafted cast plaster [chalkware] hand painted statuette was crafted by Niepold Inc of Gaithersburg Md - just outside Washington DC. Niepold fell in love with Italian art and sculpture and ventured to make items resembling famed Italian Borghese creations only to sell at inexpensive costs in the US. He used high quality plaster casts for his creations and the they were either hand painted of gold gilded.

Given the age of this beauty, she has survived the years in incredible shape with only a few minor surface scuffs on the pleat of her dress.
