In the 1950's patios became all the rage. My grandparent's house had a front porch where we use to sit in the evenings and watch for cars traveling down the highway to Shreveport. There was a covered breezeway from the back stoop to the garage to protect us from rain when going out in the car and on which a couple of chairs were placed. When the family gathered, we sat on the stoop in the evenings and on the the steps that led down to the yard and in the breezeway. And some of us sat out in the yard as evening drew to night and stories were told. How much nicer if we had a patio there thought my grandparents, and being a carpenter, that was no problem for my granddaddy. The area was scraped and leveled, concrete was poured, an interesting little pattern of fake red brick-like designs were swirled around (these would become the glide path for my trike) and low fencing was incorporated around the edge. Then brightly colored metal rockers where placed around it, and voila'.....a comfortable gathering place was established for family evenings, fish fries, ice cream making, and slide shows ......
MAY BE WORN AS A SHAWL OR AS A SCARF.
This lightweight shawl/scarf is made of 100% 5mm Habotai China silk and originally measured 35"x 84 " scarf, but dye prep washing caused some shrinkage, pleating reduced it further.
Colors are a light yellow, light coral, light blue and light apple green under dye and a turquoise, apple green, tangerine, yellow, scarlet and their blends over dye.
Remember: 100% satisfaction guaranteed. (see refund policy)
This shawl/scarf was under dyed, washed, dried and ironed into fourths, wrapped around a pipe, bound in circles to the pipe with fishing line, and compressed into "pleats." The pleats were over-dyed and the scarf was washed and allowed to dry on the pipe to set the pleats. This scarf was then repleated which means it will repleat again if necessary to look the same as it does now.
TO RETAIN THE PLEATS KEEP IT DRY. Do not wear in the rain or when humidity is over 80%.
When dirty deals you can try professional dry cleaning to retain pleats, but I do not advise it because something will be wet in the process and part of the scarf will be unpleated. I advise washing it, ironing it (into halves/quarters even) and enjoying the visual texture/color of the scarf. When you are ready to repleat it, I will be happy to tell you how to repleat it, or after washing, you can return it to me for repleating (my repleating charge is $10.00, $5.00 of which is used to reship it to you in a box - just convo me). Visual pattern will change after repleating because you cannot repeat in exactly the same place.
Thanks for stopping by. Come again soon.
