Painted in my studio in September 2022, this original oil still life painting depicts Sunflowers in a favorite green pottery vase with green apples sitting on the table. The scene is lit by dramatic afternoon light through a window. It is painted in a loose, calligraphic manner in a process where deals I limit the number of brushstrokes. I only allowed my twenty-five brushstrokes or touches of the canvas in this work of art in order to convey the subject in a minimalist way. The effect is a more modern, abstracted realism.
