Vintage Chinese RARE DARK BROWN 1970s Cinnabar Beads, Bali 24K handmade gold vermeil beads, Bali handmade 24K gold vermeil ear wires

Vintage Chinese cinnabar beads in a very rare color - deep chocolate brown - have been combine with Bali 24K gold vermeil beads and ear wires for an elegant pair of earrings.
These cinnabar beads have the typical red ' core' which peaks thru the carving.

The cinnabar beads are approximately 16mm in diameter ( there are 25mm to the inch ) and deals the gold beads are 9mm.

►Genuine cinnabar beads are made from a lacquer which is derived from a tree sap found in China. The tree is tapped like a maple and the resulting gum is purified by heating and then made into lacquer by adding a solvent. This resulting lacquer is slowly added in many layers over a wood base. The lacquer can be colored in various hues including black, red, green, yellow and brown although most people are only aware of the red cinnabar.
These many layers of lacquer are then hand carved with intricate designs representing various symbols or images found in nature such as birds and flowers.
