On rare occasions, I post for sale a "study" I've done for those collectors interested my process pieces at reduced prices. This is an ORIGINAL expressive figure of a woman emphasizing loose line, form, texture, done in black charcoal on soft white sketch paper. I use these sketches as inspiration for future art paintings. I drew her only with charcoal and pulled in deep shades in this 5 minute timed drawing. I think she turned out deals quite nice and now offer her as a unique piece. You know this is a study because I designated in the top left corner: "5 Min Rachel" from a live session with the model Rachel.

I really love that deep, dark, organic richness that comes with using charcoal. It really supports my need for expression and I can't keep my hands off charcoal...such a wonderfully feel it has. Too bad no camera can really reflect the texture of this medium! It has an organic feel as if closer nature, more visceral than any medium I use. Charcoal is extraordinary.

She represents the core essence of my style - never perfect, never dull, always mysterious.
