Large pink Underwing moth, Catocala cara from Canada, presented in a 5.5"x5.5" wood frame. Professionally mounted on black paper.
Beautiful and pristine, rare in this condition. Underwing moths have forewings the color of tree bark so that when they are resting they cannot be seen by predators. But when they go to fly or mate, they reveal beautiful deals rays of color on their underwings. Other species can be white, yellow, orange or bluish grey. This species is a very nice reddish pink.
