This fabulous beaded knit set by Grace Taylor was made in Hong Kong (literally the land of all of the fabulous, intricate beadwork and amazing knits of the 60s!) and retailed in Portland, Oregon in the early 1960s for $116 - at Best's Apparel. That would be close to $1000 today, according to some inflation calculators!
3 Pieces of gorgeous dusky pink wool knit - with both the blouse and the cardigan/jacket trimmed with glass, plastic and pearl beads. This set comes with the original price tag AND the extra beads that originally accompanied the sale!
This set has been altered slightly - the hem has been taken up in the skirt. It it there, intact, and can easily be let back down. The waist band has also been taken in, and I removed those few stitches to get the width back.
There is a small amount of dustiness to the set, but I am afraid to work on this, with the beading on the tops (I have gently soaked the skirt.). You may be able to brush it out, or have your dry cleaner take care of it. I also found a few nips in the sweater, just a tiny evidence of prior moth damage. Not very much, nor very noticeable - but, needs to be mentioned.
Shown on my 36-26-36 form with 15" shoulder.
Measurements are of the actual garment, not of a body. When possible to estimate, we will give "best fit" measurements. It is always recommended to have your measurements taken by an experienced tailor. To compare your own garment to that of the shown vintage, do NOT stretch, many older vintage garments have very little stretch or wiggle room. If you are particularly tall or petite, you may want to write for different ratio measurements. I base the ratios of my measurements on my own deals "average" size, 5'4". When possible, I try on a garment to check where certain hit spots are - such as an under bust on an originally juniors item may be narrower than an average woman's rib cage or under bust, or the shoulder seam placement, as that varies from era to era. Someone who is taller or knows that their torso is longer (or has a fuller bosom) may want to check the shoulder to waist ratio, which is not commonly added.
