The Short History of The Reformation by John F. Hurst, D.D. An Illustrated Antique History Book. Published by Harper and Brothers, Franklin Square, New York; 1884.

This small hardcover history book is illustrated with both black and white, and full-color portraits, drawings and a map. Containing 125 printed pages, with two pages of advertisements for other books at the end. Measuring approximately 6.25” tall and 3.75” wide. Condition is Good. The hardcover boards are wrapped in a brownish, olive green paper. It has become rather brittle, and it has begun to slightly bubble deals on the front and back covers, and chip away along the spine. This has not effected the actual binding, but is more of a thin covering around the book. The binding itself seems strong and secure. Please review photographs for more detail.

A concise retelling of Europe's Reformation. The book begins with Chapter One: The Heralds of Protestantism, and Chapter Two: The Humanism of Italy, and Chapter Three: The Reformation Councils. Chapter Four, Five, and Six contain information about the German Reformation. The following ten chapters each tell the history of the reformation in ten, mostly individual countries, including in the following order: German Switzerland, French Switzerland, England (in two chapters), Scotland, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain & Portugal, Scandinavia, and the Slavic Lands. Chapter Eighteen gives a Survey of the Results, and Chapter Nineteen tells of the 400th Anniversary of Martin Luther's birth. An Index follows at the end of the book. A lovely piece of World History.
